Von 1891 bis 1898 f\u00fchrte er in Hamburg am Neuen Wall ein Photographisches Atelier. Dieses wurde zuvor von Franz Wilhelm Benque (1857-1912) betrieben, der Wurzeln in Mecklenburg hat. Um 1915. Im zweiten Haus von rechts befand sich das Atelier, wahrscheinlich in einem r\u00fcckseitigen Anbau im Dachgeschoss. Zwischen den Dachgeschossetagen ist am Giebel die Aufschrift zu erkennen: \u201eS. Maass Photograph\u201c. Die Hintergr\u00fcnde waren (aus heutiger Sicht) nicht selten kitschig bis v\u00f6llig unpassend. Als Fotograf ist r\u00fcckseitig ein <strong>J.<\/strong> Maa\u00df, Rostock, angegeben. Ist das nur ein Schreibfehler? Zu dieser Zeit gab es in L\u00fcbeck einen Fotografen J. Maa\u00df.
